Tax Manager-Property Tax

Clarus Partners is seeking a Tax Manager – Property Tax.  This position is responsible for managing the property tax compliance function for our clients, analyzing real and personal property assessments, negotiating assessments with tax administrators, providing tax estimates and tax planning, and presenting formal protests.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Minimum 7-10  years of experience in property tax
  • In depth working knowledge of the property appraisal process and tax incentives
  • Proficiency in OneSource Property Tax Software and/or PTMS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and documentation skills
  • Effective analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral, including the ability to tailor the communication to the audience (i.e., translation of technical terms into business terms and vice versa)
  • Expertise in managing multiple priorities and projects, meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast- paced, changing environment
  • Knowledge of various fixed assets systems a plus 

Key Deliverables:

  • Analyzing real property and personal property tax assessments
  • Negotiating multistate assessments
  • Providing recommendations to Clients for tax planning, accruals, budgeting, and estimates
  • Presenting formal protests to governmental authorities
  • Assisting in the data gathering, technical research, and numerical analyses of various properties
  • Monitoring changes in the various property tax laws and adapting reporting changes when applicable
  • Preparing and/or reviewing personal property tax compliance
  • Business Development to grow the overall property tax practice.

Senior Auditor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • At least 3+ years’ experience in public accounting with a focus in tax; Big 4 or large regional firm experience is a plus
  • Working toward or have completed the CPA exam
  • Knowledge of internal accounting controls and professional standards and regulations (GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.)
  • Have begun to develop advanced technical and accounting skills in the areas of risk-based audits
  • Have the ability to reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform a financial statement close process
  • Complete more complex medium sized client assignments from start to finish
  • Enjoy working as a team and helping develop others
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Personal drive to develop self and others and provide leadership
  • Have the ability to handle multiple assignments, due dates, and flow of work

Key Deliverables:

  • Lead financial statement audits, reviews and compilations for a variety of client industries
  • Assist and develop junior staff as needed
  • Prepare and complete financial statements
  • Recognize client problems and suggest solutions
  • Work closely with partners, managers and staff to integrate efficient standard operating procedures and practice development skills using a team approach to client service

Senior Tax Accountant

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Accounting Associate

Qualifications:

  • 2 years’ recent accounting experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Understanding of general accounting concepts
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including word and excel
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Have the ability to handle multiple assignments, due dates, and flow of work

Key Deliverables:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly or annual compiled financial statements for multiple clients in various industries
  • Complete bank reconciliations, and monthly and quarterly sales and use and CAT tax returns
  • Understand payroll practices with the ability to prepare quarterly and year-end payroll returns
  • Assist clients with internal bookkeeping including creating invoices and entering and paying bills
