Sales and Property Tax Analyst

Clarus Partners is currently seeking a Tax Analyst for our state and local tax practice.  The position will be working on-site with a Fortune 100 company in Marysville, OH.  Clarus Partners is a tax and accounting firm based in Columbus, OH.  Clarus Partners offers its clients valuable insights to complex business problems in the following areas:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Combine and analyze client data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Import data to sales and property tax software systems.  Review data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare timely filings of monthly, quarterly and annual sales/use tax returns.
  • Prepare personal property tax returns.
  • Review and pay property tax bills.
  • Provide upkeep and improvements to the sales and property tax compliance system and process.
  • Understand sales, use and property tax return due dates, pre-payment due dates, collection entities (county, city, school, etc.) and other important tax collection issues.
  • Prioritize work load depending on near term due dates.
  • Understand specific client issues and standing requests with regard to tax payments/bills and check writing.
  • Communicate with clients professionally regarding any sales tax issues or questions.
  • Thoroughly understand and follow office procedures to effectively manage tax administration needs, including Employee Handbook and Tax Administration Procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate with state tax department employees to completely satisfy all of our client’s tax management needs.
  • Provide an exemplary level of service, with integrity, to staff and clients.

Requirements:

  • Sales tax or property tax compliance experience of 1-3 years.

Senior Tax Manager

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in accounting, MST is a plus.
-At least 6+ years’ experience in public accounting; Big 4 or large regional firm experience is a  plus.
-CPA required.
-Advanced technical and tax accounting skills in the areas of: corporate, partnership, and  individual taxation with a consulting mindset.
-Ability to mentor and develop tax staff and managers.
-Proven leadership skills in managing client service teams and multiple projects in a fast-paced  and interactive team environment to meet and exceed client expectations.
-Exceptional client service and communication skills with a proven ability to develop and  maintain outstanding client relationships.
-Ability to identify value-added opportunities and work in a team environment to develop    business.

Position Summary:

-Supervise and manage tax engagements, staff and billing.
-Provide innovative tax planning strategies and compliance expertise to clients; perform  research and prepare/review technical tax memorandum.
-Provide thought leadership to the partner group while actively developing and mentoring staff   and managers.
-Manage, develop, and mentor staff/managers on projects and assess performance.
-Work closely with partners, managers and staff to integrate efficient standard operating        procedures and practice development skills using a team approach to client service.

Senior Accountant

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
-At least 3+ years’ experience in public accounting; Big 4 or large regional firm experience is a plus.
-Working toward or have completed the CPA exam.
-Complete more complex medium sized client assignments from start to finish
-Have begun to develop advanced technical and tax accounting skills in the areas of: corporate, partnership, and individual taxation.
-Have the ability to reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform a financial statement close process
-Enjoy working as a team and helping develop others.
-Recognize client problems and suggest solutions.
-Exceptional client service and communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.

Position Summary:

-Complete from start to finish tax and accounting assignments.
-Assist and develop junior staff as needed.
– Prepare complex corporate, partnership and individual returns and research tax questions,  and understand basic tax planning and Tax preparations.
-Prepare and complete financial statements
-Recognize client problems and suggest solutions.
-Work closely with partners, managers and staff to integrate efficient standard operating procedures and practice development skills using a team approach to client service.

Staff Accountant

Requirements

-Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration
-Major: Accounting
-GPA: Minimum 3.2
-Coursework: Successfully completing final accounting coursework. Maintained an A or B average in all accounting classes.
-Pursuing required credit hours to sit for the CPA Exam (Ideally candidates will have 150 upon graduation).
