Senior Accountant

Clarus Partners is looking to add a Senior Accountant to our dynamic team in Columbus, Ohio who wants to work on a wide variety of challenging engagements, continue their professional development and ultimately realize their career goals.

Our Senior Accountants are responsible for playing a key role in all areas of client service from attestation to tax preparation and review and consulting.  Our Senior Accountants are also expected to establish personal and direct working relationships with our clients, and our internal teams, (including: Partners, Directors, Managers, other Senior Accountants, Staff Associates, and our Administrative Support Team).

Our Senior Accountants are expected to continue to develop their supervisory and management skills and experience while receiving ongoing training and mentoring that are keys to success in public accounting.

Qualifications:

  • CPA Certification or eligible and actively pursuing certification
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar public accounting firm or private industry company
  • Proven financial, analytical, technical and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent client service and business development skills
  • Ability to oversee, manage and prioritize engagements
  • Ability to supervise and motivate staff

Key Deliverables:

  • Planning, scheduling and orchestrating all aspects of client engagements
  • Preparing business and individual tax returns on a timely and efficient basis
  • Perform complete and efficient reviews of individual and business returns while providing guidance and supervision to Staff Associates
  • Relationship building with clients and community contacts to contribute to the overall marketing efforts of the firm
  • Training and mentoring of Staff Associates
  • Working knowledge of Excel

Senior Auditor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • At least 3+ years’ experience in public accounting with a focus in tax; Big 4 or large regional firm experience is a plus
  • Working toward or have completed the CPA exam
  • Knowledge of internal accounting controls and professional standards and regulations (GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.)
  • Have begun to develop advanced technical and accounting skills in the areas of risk-based audits
  • Have the ability to reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform a financial statement close process
  • Complete more complex medium sized client assignments from start to finish
  • Enjoy working as a team and helping develop others
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Personal drive to develop self and others and provide leadership
  • Have the ability to handle multiple assignments, due dates, and flow of work

Key Deliverables:

  • Lead financial statement audits, reviews and compilations for a variety of client industries
  • Assist and develop junior staff as needed
  • Prepare and complete financial statements
  • Recognize client problems and suggest solutions
  • Work closely with partners, managers and staff to integrate efficient standard operating procedures and practice development skills using a team approach to client service
  • Local and overnight travel is required

Accounting Associate

Qualifications:

  • 2 years’ recent accounting experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Understanding of general accounting concepts
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including word and excel
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with an ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Have the ability to handle multiple assignments, due dates, and flow of work

Key Deliverables:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly or annual compiled financial statements for multiple clients in various industries
  • Complete bank reconciliations, and monthly and quarterly sales and use and CAT tax returns
  • Understand payroll practices with the ability to prepare quarterly and year-end payroll returns
  • Assist clients with internal bookkeeping including creating invoices and entering and paying bills
