Brian has over 25 years of dedicated sales and use tax experience. Most of that was with the Big 4 accounting firms, but the most recent years prior to joining Clarus Partners Advisors in March 2019 were spent in his own practice, Carolinas Tax Consulting, Inc. Brian has assisted his clients in all aspects of sales and use taxes-refund studies, voluntary disclosures, compliance process methodologies, transactional planning (particularly around mergers and acquisitions), percentage use tax reporting implementations, nexus studies, taxability matrices, managed audits, procurement card studies, sales/use tax payables account reconciliations, and audit defenses/protests. While managing the indirect tax function for one of his clients for 18 months, Brian also gained valuable experience on a Vertex upgrade/reimplementation with SAP-B.S. in Business Administration, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Master's in Accounting-University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
