The Ohio Development Services Agency (Ohio DSA) has announced the second round of funds available to employers to help offset the costs of training their current workforce. The Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program has $30 million available – $27 million in grants which will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and the remaining $3 million will be used for loans.
Through this program, employers can be reimbursed 50% of the eligible training costs, up to $4,000 per employee and a maximum of $250,000 per employer in a fiscal year. Eligible training costs need to be incurred between August 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.
The applications will be submitted in a 2-step process:
- The pre-application is currently available through September 29, 2013. The anticipated training classes, costs, employees, etc., can be completed. There are also forms that need to be signed and uploaded before moving on to step 2.
- On September 30, 2013 at 10 a.m. the application can be submitted for approval. Because the grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, funds are expected to be claimed within the first several hours.
